Ongoing Community Initiatives - Earth Day

Earth Day

HIEA has been supporting the annual Earth Day Festival since 1999. Over the years the support and the program have seen many changes. For the past several years HIEA member volunteers have presented a workshop featuring the “Do You Want to Be an Earth Day Almost Millionaire” game.

The game, a favorite for many, gives students the opportunity to earn $25 for their class environmental progeam by correctly answering environmental questions. Held over three days in 2010, the event allowed almost 325 students and thier teachers to participate.

In addition to the game, students learned how HIEA member companies work with the community to address environmental concerns, plant trees, discuss ongoing environmental improvements in each company and fund environmental educational programs.
