HIEA Welcomes our New General Manager
The Board of Directors is pleased to announce that they have retained Geoffrey Knapper, to take on the role of HIEA General Manager as of April 2021. Geoffrey will be working with the Board of Directors, our Technical Committee members and Heidi Levitzky, our Public Relations Coordinator to help facilitate HIEA’s activities focusing on stakeholder relations, technical programs, advocacy, and member support.
With over 30 years of experience Geoffrey has proven to be an engaging senior manager and influential environmental manager and regulator. In his career, Geoffrey has taken on many leadership roles across both the private and broader public sectors. Most of you will recognize Geoffrey from his time at the Ministry of Environment Conservation and Parks (MECP). Geoffrey led and worked on many important initiatives at MECP including implementation of the Ministry's alternate and technical standards, government approval of refurbishment of steel making facilities and expansion of landfill capacity.
Geoffrey most recently has been working as a management consultant in the areas of general management consulting, government regulations and enforcement, environmental compliance, and the circular economy.
Geoffrey is married with three school-aged children and three dogs and lives in Beamsville, is an avid sailor, former rugby player and enjoys hiking.
