What We Do
   — The Hamilton Industrial Environmental Association is a body of representatives from local industrial companies who are committed to operating their facilities in a safe and responsible manner, and in a way which does not adversely impact neighbouring communities.

Who We Are
   — Incorporated in 1998, HIEA is a non-profit association whose members represent local private sector industries. HIEA provides an open forum for community representatives and local associations to discuss environmental concerns regarding their respective communities.

   — Each year an award(s) will be made to support a student from: the Chemical Engineering Technology - Environmental Program, the Environmental Technician Program with or without Co-op Internship and/or Energy Systems Technology – Clean & Renewable Energy.

   — Working in partnership with residents and community associations, HIEA provides financial support to initiatives that enhance and protect our local environment.

Previous Community Initiatives - Adopt-a-Creek
   — HIEA was pleased to support this program that targets both urban homeowners and high school students in order to engage both groups in activities that are beneficial to the environmental health of urban creeks, valley corridors and ultimately, Hamilton Harbour.

HIEA and City of Hamilton Public Health team up to fund Airshed Model
   — As 2014 came to a close, HIEA was pleased to partner with the City of Hamilton to co-fund the development of a model of the Hamilton Airshed. On December 15th, Golder Associates Ltd. was retained by HIEA to begin work on this 16 month project.

Birding Platform
   — A ribbon cutting ceremony was held on September 24, 2014 unveiling the migratory bird lookout platform and the interpretative signage at Fifty Point Conservation Area.

New Community Initiatives - Hamilton Children's Water Festival
   — The Hamilton Children's Water Festival has been held each year in the spring at the Pier 8, Discovery Centre.

Previous Community Initiatives - Commuter Challenge
   — HIEA member-companies have made a tonne of difference to our environment. For the fifth year in a row, HIEA supported the Commuter Challenge.

Ongoing Community Initiatives - Earth Day
   — HIEA has been supporting the annual Earth Day Festival since 1999. Over the years the support and the program have seen many changes.

Ongoing Community Initiatives - Greenbelting
   — As part of their mission to improve the local environment, HIEA regularly invests in greenbelting projects.

Previous Community Initiatives - Open House
   — HIEA’s first-ever Open House was held April 11 and 12 at Hamilton’s Centre Mall. The community was invited to review HIEA initiatives and to discuss individual concerns with HIEA

Ongoing Community Initiatives - Outdoor Education
   — Outdoor education programming through the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board continues to flourish in core city elementary schools, due to the support of the Hamilton Industrial Environmental Association (HIEA).

Previous Community Initiatives - Science Fair
   — For almost 50 years, the Bay Area Science & Engineering Fair has provided a forum for students in the Hamilton/Halton area to develop their scientific skills and prepare for national and international competition.

New Community Initiatives - Yellow Fish Road
   — HIEA has been working with together with the Bay Area Restoration Council for many years and is pleased to provide our support for this valuable project.
